Commercialization and Communications Specialist (Portland, OR)
Reporting to the VP of Strategy & Business, assist with marketing and communications for software systems development services. Research market conditions related to Galois' highly specialized technical services and products to recommend national sales strategies for commercial and government clients. Create communications and marketing protocols and work with outside vendors. Collect and analyze data to assist in identifying potential markets for Galois' products and services. Create technical marketing materials for diverse markets. Work with Galois' software engineers and computer research scientists to gather requirements for proposal generation with prospective clients and to produce technical marketing materials. Prepare communications tools for complex computer science/technology concepts related to Galois' applied formal methods for high assurance software and language design, through non-technical descriptions in print, web, diagrams and videos. Provide marketing and communications strategy development support for review/approval by Vice President for Galois' spinouts while they are incubated to build additional revenue, including recurring product- and license-based revenue. Evaluate and recommend entrepreneurial strategies and business models to Vice President for spinout opportunities. Research spinout strategies to take technology from prototype to standalone subsidiaries. Research fundraising strategies appropriate for early startups and recommend commercialization strategies for approval by Vice President, for advanced technologies, to guide technical solutions towards transition and commercialization. Up to 20% domestic and international travel required.
Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or related field (foreign equivalent accepted).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (foreign equivalent accepted).
Four years' experience as a Market Research Analyst, Marketing Specialist, Copywriter, Creative Facilitator, or similar position.
- 48 months' experience in communications, marketing, public relations and advertising, including web, print and video
- 36 months' experience in technical copy writing, including communicating complex technology concepts into easily consumed diagrams & text
- 18 months' experience evaluating start-up business models
- 18 months' experience creating marketing and communications strategies for startups
All experience, skills and requirements may be gained concurrently.
